About Us

One family. One workshop. One dream.

In 1998, my mother Ingrid sewed her first coat in our guest room in Mölndal, just outside Gothenburg. No investors. No business plan. Just an old Singer sewing machine and an idea she couldn't shake.

Dad thought she was crazy. But he supported her anyway. She sewed until midnight every night. Weekends disappeared into fabric and thread. He delivered the coats in his old Volvo—wrapped in packing paper on the back seat.

I was seven when she sold her first coat to a stranger. She cried at the kitchen table. Not out of sadness.

Why we sell directly

For fifteen years, we tried boutiques and department stores. They took our coats—twenty hours of handiwork—and marked them up 300%. A coat that cost €180 suddenly cost €540. And we were supposedly “too expensive.”

In 2019, we called it quits. No more middlemen.

Now we sell directly to you. Same quality. Same craftsmanship. Fair prices.

The team

Ingrid, 55 — The maker At the sewing machine every morning at 7 a.m. Drinks too much coffee. Refuses to retire.

Erik, 58 — The hugger Shipping, customer service, and good vibes. Still drives the Volvo.

Elsa, 29 — The designer That's me. I design the collections and learn from my mom every day.

Every Ekman coat is made in our workshop in Sweden. By hand. By us.

Thank you for finding us.
